Pastor Michael Kuschel

Pastor Mike Kuschel has served First Lutheran Church and School since August of 2022. 

After graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2007, Pastor Kuschel was assigned to St. Matthew’s Danube and St. Matthew Flora Township in rural Minnesota.  During his time there, Little Lambs Learning Center of Danube, MN was established in 2014.  In 2020, Pastor Kuschel, was called to serve an additional congregation as a tri-parish between St. Matthew’s Danube, St. Matthew Flora Twp, and St. John’s Renville was formed.  Pastor Kuschel served in this tri-parish setting until accepting the call to serve First Lutheran Church & School in the summer of 2022. 

The move to Elkhorn meant a move back to Wisconsin.  Pastor Kuschel was born in Manitowoc area and grew up in South Milwaukee, WI.  He would go on to attend Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, graduating in 1999.  From there he would head out to Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, MN.   At MLC he met his bride to be, Beth.  The two would be married in 2004.  

Beth and Mike have been blessed with five children:  Ellie, Henry, Noah, Oliver and Penny.  When he’s not at the church or school, you might see him out in the community spending time with his family, coaching, or playing different sports.  Pastor Kuschel enjoys preaching, teaching, conducting chapel services, and serving in a variety of different ways in the church and the community.
